Carle Class

Welcome to The Early Years Foundation Stage.

The Early Years Foundation Stage at Eynesbury is a two class unit.  We have a Pre-School Class called Carle,  and a Reception Class called Inkpen.

Our classes work in partnership to ensure that we have a shared vision, joint pedagogy, and a progressive curriculum. This is planned together to ensure that our children experience a broad and balanced learning journey combined with opportunities to initiate their own learning and lines of enquiry.

Parent Partnership

We pride ourselves on our positive relationships with parents. In Pre-School we undertake home visits, and have a bespoke offer for hours. In Reception we offer a series of workshops and information sessions to ensure parents and carers can be fully informed and included in their child's educational experience. These sessions include subjects such as Phonics, Reading and Maths. Each year parents are offered the opportunity to suggest workshops they would like to be included.

We warmly welcome you to the Carle Class Page!

Carle Class is the Pre-School class at Eynesbury. Here we all work together to provide a caring, safe and stimulating environment for the children to enjoy. Our approach encompasses holistic learning encouraging our children to become active learners, exploring the world through a range of indoor and outdoor experiences. The children can choose to build a den, cook up a storm in the mud kitchen, climb a 'castle' or become a character dreamt up from their imagination. We have wonderful woodland area on our doorstep. Influenced by 'forest school' thinking , we support children to go on adventures, take risks and develop an appreciation of the natural world through sensory exploration.

Pre-School Team

The Pre-School Team

Miss Pritchard is our Pre-School manager. She is supported by Mrs Barrett-Hardy, Mrs Howell, Mrs Addison and Mrs Vincent. All Pre-school practitioners actively encourage creating strong partnerships with parents and children, taking time to get to know each unique child and extend their learning following individual interests.

The Curriculum

At Eynesbury we value the importance of learning through play and in particular through child initiated learning which follows the children's interests. The Pre-School uses Development Matters in the Early Years Foundation Stage to plan a broad and balanced curriculum. Children take part in a range of playful activities, which focus on intellectual, creative, social and emotional development. Some activities are adult led and some are child led.

Children learn new skills, gain knowledge and show understanding through the seven areas of learning and development. The prime areas are Personal Social and Emotional Development, Communication and Language and Physical Development. As children grow the prime areas help them develop skills in the four specific areas of Literacy, Numeracy, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design.

Tapestry

All children in Pre-School have their learning experiences recorded on 'Tapestry,' an online learning journal. When staff complete an observation on a child, it is then uploaded to their journal, often with photos or videos for parents and children to enjoy. Parents receive a notification on their phone or by email and they can then comment on their child's achievement. We also encourage parents to add photos and descriptions of exciting events that have happened at home which help us to work together to create an amazing diary of the child's time in Pre-School.

If you would like to find out more about Tapestry please visit the webpage at https://tapestry.info/parents-carers.html

Your child will need......

At Eynesbury Pre-School the children wear a uniform. Information about this can be found in our prospectus via the link at the bottom of this page.

We ask you to supply a spare set of non uniform clothes and these are kept in a provided bag on your child’s peg. We recommend that these are comfortable items that the children don’t need at home.

In the winter we play outside as much as we can so we ask you to ensure your child wears a vest if needed, and has a warm coat, hat and gloves. Please remember to bring a pair of named wellies too.

In the summer your child will need a sunhat and to arrive at nursery with sun cream applied in advance.

Please send your child in with a named drink bottle.  A fruit snack is provided by Pre-School

We usually suggest the children have a book bag to bring home books, letters and artwork.  These are available from www.myclothing.com

Look at all the lovely things we get to do at Pre-School! We paint, we sing, we climb, we explore and all the time we are playing we are learning!

We have some available spaces in the Pre-School for January 2024!

Children can join us the term following their 3rd birthday, please call 01480 398029 or email: office@eynesbury.cambs.sch.uk
