Dahl Class

Welcome to Dahl Class (Year 3) at Eynesbury Church of England Primary School!

Mrs Riley and Mrs Haupt are the Dahl class teachers. Mrs Riley teaches  Monday to Wednesday, and Mrs Haupt teaches Thursday-Friday.  Due to the current lockdown we will not be seeing all of you in person, but hope to see you regularly on Zoom calls. Packs with home learning materials will be coming to you soon and Mrs Brown will give you regular updates. Keep your eyes on this page for information regarding spellings and any other relevant information which will help with home-learning  specific to Year 3. Please email at us if you have any queries at dahl@eynesbury.cambs.sch.uk.

PE and Uniform reminders

PE during the Spring term would normally  be on Mondays and Thursdays with  Primary Sports Stars. Children should come to school on those days wearing their PE kit as they will not be able to get changed in the classroom. PE kit (which must be clearly labelled) should be a white t-shirt and navy or black shorts, with navy or black jogging bottoms and sweatshirt for outdoors as well as suitable trainers. PE kits are not currrently allowed to be left at school due to COVID restrictions.

If your child has pierced ears, please remove earrings at home (preferably) or cover with a plaster before PE. If they do wear earrings to school, they should only be studs.  Equally nail varnish should not be worn in school and hair which is shoulder length or longer should be tied back.

Water bottles

Please send your child to school every day with a water bottle as they are currently unable to use the school water fountains. Some children have the same style of water bottle so please ensure you name your child's bottle to avoid any confusion.

Homework

Children will be given a spelling list each Friday (this will be stuck into their planner) to practise regularly throughout the week in their (green) home learning journals, including putting the spellings into sentences. Their books should be brought back to school on Thursday to be checked before sending home again on Friday. They will also be tested on their spellings on Thursdays. New spellings will be posted on the class website in case your child forgets their planner or does not have a copy of the most up-to-date spellings for any reason.

Children should  read on a daily basis. We cannot stress the importance of this. Please ensure their planner is signed by an adult every time you hear them read. As the Eynesbury Echo reminds us weekly, there are great benefits to be had from regular reading! Children who read at least five times  a week (and have their planners signed) by an adult will be rewarded with 'Reading Reward Time' on a Friday afternoon. Children who have not read at least 5 times and had their planners signed will use this time to catch up on reading.

All children have a TT Rockstars login and should be practising regularly using this. Many children are having lots of fun with this and seeing their knowledge and speed increase. We will be checking to see who has logged on and who has beaten their previous scores.

Please sign your child's planner at the bottom of the page each week and ensure your child has this at school on Friday for us to check.

If you have any issues/ concerns about any aspect of the homework please do contact us.
