Year 3

Welcome to Year 3 at Eynesbury Church of England Primary School!

Mrs Wood teaches the class on Mondays and Tuesdays. Mrs Gabe teaches on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

The children are supported in the class by Mrs Penny-Meech and Mrs Underwood.

We are always outside at the end of the day seeing the children out – please do come and talk to us if you have any questions or concerns. You can also write a note in the home school communication book (please remind your child to show us this as we do not check them every day) or email us at:

PE and Uniform reminders

PE during the summer term will be on Mondays and Thursdays. Primary Sports Stars will be working with the children on athletics skills. The other session will be practising skills needed for rounders and learning how to play.

Please make sure that your child has their PE kit in school every day just in case.

PE kit should be a white t-shirt and navy or black shorts, with navy or black jogging bottoms and sweatshirt for outdoors as well as suitable trainers.

Please make sure all uniform and PE kit are clearly named. Children shouldn’t wear any jewellery to school apart from small stud earrings. Children will need to be able to remove these themselves for PE lessons. Nail varnish should also not be worn in school and hair which is shoulder length or longer should be tied back.

As the weather gets warmer, please ensure that your child brings a cap to school and also has a water bottle in addition to their lunch drink.

We have loved seeing the children’s home learning projects which they have chosen from the homework grids. We will be sending out another grid for children to choose tasks from for this term. They should complete one task each week, to be handed in on Mondays.

In addition, children will be given a spelling list each Friday to practise regularly throughout the week in their spelling journals, including putting the spellings into sentences. These words will be tested on Thursdays.

Children should continue to read regularly at home, including sharing books together. Please ensure their reading diary is signed by an adult at least three times a week. As the Eynesbury Echo reminds us weekly, there are great benefits to be had from regular reading!

All children have a TT Rockstars login and should be practising regularly using this. Many children are having lots of fun with this and seeing their knowledge and speed increase.

We love to celebrate children’s achievements at Eynesbury School. We have a celebration assembly every Friday where certificates are given out to a child in each class for an achievement they have made during that week. A sports certificate is also given to one child in each class every week.

We use a housepoint system in the class. Children can earn stars through great work, contributions to discussion, learning attitude, helpfulness etc. When they have earned 5 stars, they receive a bronze certificate in the Celebration assembly. They then work towards their silver, gold and platinum certificates.

At the end of each day, a child in the class will be awarded the Golden Cushion.  This can be given for many reasons: achievement in their work that day; sharing an idea with the class; being kind and polite or showing courage.

At Eynesbury Church of England Primary School we 'Love to learn, learn to love!'
