Class Equipment

The children are provided in school with all the equipment they will need for learning.  In year 4, they have their own equipment which they are expected to take ownership of and take care of.

PE kit

Please ensure that your child has the correct PE kit in school at all times.  This term, year 4 will have 2 lessons a week which will take place on  - Monday and Thursday.

Indoor PE kit should be:

White t-shirt and blue or black shorts.

Outdoor PE kits should be:

White t-shirt, navy/black jogging bottoms and jumper, suitable trainers.

Children should have both indoor and outdoor kit in school all week to enable flexibility and to support cross curricular links.

As the weather gets hotter, please ensure your child is provided with equipment to protect them from the sun including cream and a sun hat.  Whatever the weather, children need to have a water bottle in all week to rehydrate during PE lessons and at other times.

As always, no jewellery please, except a small pair of studs for pierced ears which the children will need to be able to remove for PE lessons.  Please no nail varnish and tie hair back if below shoulder length.

As the children get older, please support us in encouraging their independence and responsible attitude by ensuring you send any letters or money in with the children, so they can hand them to us in class to deal with.

Homework will be set on Fridays and should be handed in by the following Wednesday.

English and Maths

Each week the children will be given a maths related activity, mostly involving number skills. They’ve been doing T.T rockstars or times tables…They will also be set spelling words or spelling patterns to practice regularly throughout the week, which will be tested on a Friday.  Each week they need to complete spelling sentences to demonstrate how to use the spellings they are learning in context.

Topic homework

Each term the class are given a homework grid with a range of activities to complete reflecting their topic.  They need to complete one of these activities each week in their homework book. Each Friday, we take the time to share the children’s topic pieces so the children can celebrate their own achievements with their classmates.

Pupils should continue to read regularly at home ideally for at least twenty minutes a day but a minimum of three times a week.  Parents should sign reading records to confirm that his has happened.

Times tables practice

This term we would like all children to regularly practise their times tables using Times tables Rocks Stars .

Parents should use the home-school communication book to express any concerns or highlight things well done.

When the children do something amazing – both in their work and in their behaviour they earn stars, housepoints and raffle tickets! We celebrate each Friday in Celebration assembly! Good times!
