This term, Year 3 will have PE on Thursdays and Fridays. We will be learning gymnastics indoors and ball skills outdoors.
They will therefore need an inddor and outdoor PE kit. Children can wear a sweatshirt and jogging bottoms if the weather is cold, shorts are usually worn for gymnastics. Plesae ensure these are still navy blue.
Children will also need a change of shoes. Trainers are fine.
Will commence in the Spring term - more information to follow.
Homework will be given on Fridays. There will be some Maths work and English or Topic. This will always be linked to work in class that week.
Children should return this by Wednesday please. If there are any issues, please encourage your child to ask us about the work before Wednesday.
It would be really useful if you could write a comment to let us know how much help your child needed/received to complete the work.
We encourage you to hear your child read at home at least 3 times a week. Please record any reading your child does at home in their reading journal. Every child in Year 3 currently has a levelled reading book, which we expect them to read. Any additional reading is great too. Children can change their book whenever they have finished it.
If reading is not completed and signed by an adult 3 times a week, your child will attend homework club at breaktime on Friday.
Children are given weekly spellings to practise at home. These are in their reading journals. Please encourage your child to practise at home little and often as much as possible. Children will be tested on their spellings on Fridays.
Autumn Term Topics
In Science this term, we are learning about animals including humans.
In topic, we are learning about Europe. We have been finding out about different European countries and comparing cities within Europe. The children are currently working on a research project which they will use to complete an information country about a given European country. They have also completed some fantastic art work this term linked to a European artist's style called 'Pointilism.' They are now looking at their local area and finding out more information about St. Neots.
